i recently obtained a copy of a cable access show that ibopa played on back in 1998. watched it this weekend: kinda interesting, each song has a brief pause between so you can "get to know the band" kinda thing. music wasn't so hot, in my opinion, but the recording itself is pretty good.
my question: did anyone else see this show? was it a fairly good representation of ibopa's music? although a few songs hinted at where the music of both jamie and cory would go, i wasn't so impressed by the "cinematic death mambo"

wow, that is a big ass bump... to think there was a time when i was uninformed and had no opinions about ibopa... times really have changed... maybe i should search through old threads when i was still a newbie and see how my own opinion has developed...
edit: i did, and found a thread where i was asking what deerhoof sounded like... ah, the joys of ignorance... i also found the date of my first xiu xiu show: 4/25/03 ... it was jamie solo, after the gear was stolen... too many bands opened, jamie only played 4 songs, i picked up my first shirt (pac man), and my obsession began
and to think i thought the memory of that vhs would disappear within my collection...
currently, i don't have any way to transfer a vhs to digital media, and i have no idea how i would even do so... also, i kind of have a feeling that jamie wouldn't exactly be pleased if it ended up on the internet... i mean, this was back in the day when the band members used nicknames instead of nicknames, and jamie wore a skirt with a navy (military, not color) shirt
but, if someone can offer me advice on how this might be possible without raping my checking account, maybe i'll ask jamie for permission next time they come around

well, what kind of computer are you running ([mac/pc?] more spec do you have rca hookups in the back? if not there are converters and then you can run it through a program like adobe premier and then you can capture it [like recording a tape on a tape player] and save it as a digital media file. if this was obvious and you have another problem, what might it be?)?
edit: my punctuation was/is confusing.
edit 2: oh, to cature it you would connect the vhs to the computer and once in the editing program you can... well, if you want me to give you spec details just private message me

On to topic of IBOPA-- right now I'm kinda in love with this song that is either IBOPA or XITSJ called the "Wedding Song" which I got off somebody's blog recently. Does anybody know the history of this song? It has a really funny intro where Jamie or somebody introduces the band as "New Order" and I think it's probably a live radio session or something. There's some operatic singing in it too. God i love this track!
