Xiu Xiu (Jamie) played last. I got to see the Paper Chase, El Guapo, and the Yellow Press (I think it was them). El Guapo turned out to be pretty techno-ish, got people grooving. Jamie was by himself, it turned out that there friends of his in the audience, he made "shout outs" and dedicated songs to them. The show was mostly acoustic and very interactive. In the beginning a young punk boy shouted (paraphrasing) "Are you alone man?"
Jamie: Yeah.
punk boy: awww.
Jamie: So are you.
punk boy: No, i'm not.
Jamie: Yes you are, in here (pointing to his heart).
another funny moment is when he dedicated a song to a friend and someone shouted "That guy's a fag!" (it was understood to be a joke. Jamie said something like "Tell me about it" and grabbed his ass. then said something about how enjoyable it is.
I don't have the setlist but he played at least 9 or 10 songs and an encore with two songs.
He played some new stuff, including an amazing one that mentioned "fabulous muscles" being cremated, and some guy cumming on his lips. Classic. It was probably my favorite, can't wait to hear the studio version. He played Suha, Hives Hives, I Broke Up, 20,000 Deaths, Nieces Pieces, Sad Pony Guerrilla Girl, a cover song (there was a guy singing along, so i assume this was a cover, Jamie warned that it might be horrible). There were more songs, I might not be remembering all the old stuff.
The audience was attentive and respectful, during the first song you could tell that those that were not there for Xiu Xiu quickly became appreciative, there were some people talking during the first few seconds of the first song but we SHUSHed them. In fact the udience was so quiet that you could hear the people at the entrance, personnel talking (sort of loudly).
Damn good show. I bought 2 shirts and "Fag Patrol." Best birthday ever.
