Personally, I am most partial to Poe Poe. I love the piano and the whole rhythm scheme.
I feel a bit silly about this but I love how the [glow=red,2,300]"This is the worst vacation ever"[/glow] lyric is delivered. It caught my attention immediately and for all borderline silliness/melodrama I still love the intensity it brings to the album. I consider it to be the signature moment of Knife Play...

"i like my neighbourhood, i like my gun" especially the way it's delivered after the *aural rape* part.

i'm partial to "flip yourself off but then erase when someone sees you", but my all time favorite is still the delivery of "this is the worst vacation ever"... perhaps the most honest/naked moment in music history

Honorable mention: the chorus of Hives Hives. You can't forget those lyrics: A.I.D.S.H.I.V. I cannot wait to die can't you tell can't you tell can't you tell

"will you ever bleep out? do you love me jamie stewart?" or pretty much any other lyric from ian curtis wishlist. (i like it even more after hearing the long interview that someone posted a link to on this board)
of course i agree with people about the lyrics in 'i broke up'
and also "the smallest kiss in the world" from tonite and today (second time i think, it's at 3:45 in the song)

funny, i always thought "knife play" and "a promise" were two seperate albums; but maybe you folks know better than i. eww! someone's a little bitchy... you're right; both "ian curtis wishlist" and "sap pony guerilla girl" are on _a_promise_, but people decided to share their favorite xiu xiu moments in a post about favorite moments... whoa! huge crime! take that stick out of your ass. i know you're enjoying it, but it's annoying to the rest of us

that is a good point...being annoyed by something is only reasonable going one way and not the other, i suppose. the stick shall be removed.
at any rate, i apologize for bringing up the fact that words actually have meanings.

look, i was only standing up for the people who were trying to post interesting comments rather than negative, mean-spirited responses. of course, my comment was also mean-spirited, so i shouldn't have responded in such a bitchy context. however, i'm sick of "guests" coming in and dropping stupid remarks and moving along. i mean, it's a message board! who cares if the topics change as drastically as mentioning something from another album! at least they're staying on the topic of xiu xiu and not sharing the latest news about their essay on blake or something. i'd respond similarly to anyone who was so blatanly annoying without even trying to share something interesting...
if you find something annoying, just say so, but don't act so condescending about it. i mean, "but maybe you folks know better than i"? how pretentious could you sound? couldn't you have just started a new thread titled "favorite _a promise_ song/lyric"?
if you'd like to make more snide comments at me for pointing out your status as bitch with a stick in her/his ass, please use the link attached to my user id and do it in e-mail, since this is a public forum. i would have done it privately myself, but you neglected to leave a return address
