I'm assuming the "On Fire" being referenced is the Galaxie 500 album, but is "Lady Day" the Billie Holiday album, or the Lou Reed song? And what is "Birthday"? The Beatles song? Thoughts?

i thought "Birthday" was a reference to The Birthday Party, probably wrong though.

there are plenty of other references to birthdays on the rest of the album, maybe one of them is a reference to the band

Funny, the first time I heard Xiu Xiu they immediately reminded me [glow=red,2,300]a lot[/glow] of The Birthday Party but with more unconventional rock instruments. When I read that lyric I just assumed it was a reference to The Birthday Party.

I thought the "On Fire" reference was the Sebadoh song.
