i was typing fast so i just put edu instead of education, and i guess i need to be intelligent to be a writer, so you decide, whatever, i have no fight left in me today. as for t; im strictly writing my opinions, i dont believe christianity is horrible and evil, i never directly (and i hope never indirectly) stated that, i merely put in my two cents like the rest of us all, everything i write in here is a matter of opinion and is based on my individual knowledge. you may notice there are certain areas of this forum where i have not participated in conversation, that is because i dont shoot my mouth off about things i dont know about (not implying that anyone else does). all it is to me is opinion, just because my opinion differs from yours, doesnt mean that your opinion is cancelled out, it just means i said what i wanted to say, it doesnt mean that what you said is of less value or that your opinion is instantly insignifigant. god!!! maybe they shoulda had us all agree to disclaimers like when religious shows come on tv and "the views expressed are solely those of the producers". no hard feelings, no more fighting!!!

the message of jesus ISN'T offensive, and I don't think that anybody has tried to say that. What is offensive, is people who come try to tell you that your belief system is wrong, and that you will pay dire consequences if you don't believe the same thing as them. I am very positive that nobody has ever been hurt by hearing Jesus' message.
If you look at it from a truly objective standpoint it's just one group of people trying to spread their religion to another group. The problem here is that the first group is going in with the impression that the other's beliefs are wrong, or inferior, and I think that's just racist.
I'm sure missionaries the world over have good intentions, but you know what they say about those.

i just think that in order to preserve the last legs of rare cultures, missionaries need to accept the individuality of cultures and beliefs and be respectful of the fact that these creeds are almost extinct as it is and whosoever from these creeds that still remain need to know about their heritage and embrace their unique beliefs systems. thats my only problem with them. that their are so many minorities out there that are fading away and conversion is a surefire way to make certain that these cultures and their theories on deities are lost.

but, holygoat, you did say that you were once a christian, and then a mormon, and now you are neither.. you had the chance to explore different beliefs.. and change your mind.. so why cant other people in different countries?
its sweet that you are defending these people whose cultures are "in danger".. but i can make a pretty safe bet that if you talked to these people after they had heard the gospel and allowed their lives to be changed by it.. that they will not be complaining about a lost creed. and isnt that really important?.. that people are making choices for themselves.. like we do here.
