well. back to christianity being good... for me. i could've been doing alot of really stupid things right now if it weren't for chosing God over the self-satisfactions in the world. Good things for everyone?. well. most people in church ( if they go there with an open mind) enjoy it . some find it relaxing, others find it enlightening or that it gives them something to think about. all true there. But really, when it comes to explaining how we got here as a being the bible tells it all. i mean. Darwin was a christian , and he denied his evolution theory, but others kept to it. I'm with Darwin on denying the evolution thing because it 's based on how we all evolved from some gas /space explosion... if that's the fact... then where did the gases come from? Who put the gases there? True there are alot of stupid and un-educated christians out there who argue , complain or whatever . But doesn't everyone? we're all humans.no one's perfect
Is there a God , heaven, afterlife.. we'll all find out eventually.

yeah, also evolution, beleive in it or not could be the scientific explanation for what god did/said in one breath, so whatever you beleive you cant depend it on (or off) of evolution. ya think

Could be that God set things in motion and then guided the evolution of stars, planets, life, etc. I don't know exactly what I believe, but i do know that i won't be joining the 'taking the bible as literal fact' camp anytime soon.

my god said yours is asphalt, my god says yours was weak, allah said buddahs a faggot and jehovah said zeus was a creep, bible aint doin shit for me except lulling me to bak sleep. someone said we're gonna die tonight, in what do i believe? so and so said he's a prophet, mary was down on her knees, kabbalah just whispers proverbs, while menonites fell in the streets, tao man in his pagota said satan pass the saki please, while the mormon recluse is making up some excuse why its a sin to drink that coffee. someone said we're gonna die tonight in what do i believe? people are maybe just people, maybe it tends to release, a form of malignant infection that tells us we'll wake from our dreams. if there's so many paths whats the right one, its a debate for whos most supreme, faith alone is the temple, where ALL souls wash their feet. someone said im gonna die tonight, in what do i believe.

if whatever god is true, you don't have much choice in the matter, ultimately. ex: 1. God is God. 2. God creates man. 3. God tells man how to live because he is God and has the right to. 4. Man thinks his way is better than God. 5. Man is stupid for thinking this because he is not God and is not objective. 6. God sends Man to hell because he doesn't do what he is told.
no matter what slogans you've read in the punkest books in the world, or the holiest, you can't beat around this fact.

some of that is bullshit, especially the last one. one of the ten commandments i think goes something to the effect of obey your parents. how many of you have disobeyed your parents? oh, you didnt do what God told, so youre going to hell. as i recall, thats what Jesus was for, forgiving us for the bad shit we did so that if we accepted that we could still get into heaven. nothing is that cut and dry. nothing.

it's not really bullshit because i don't think you really understood what i was trying to say. i don't think that the hell system is a bad one. i don't think God (i hope at least) is an unjust God, and even if he was, who am i to say he is unjust when he is God and knows better than me by definition. it is also more complex than accepting jesus' sacrifice, that's why i didn't say sin. i said that man thinks his way is better than God's way, even if it means he doesn't think he needs salvation through Christ. according to christianity, if man chooses his own way against what the Bible states, he is damned. stop trying to downplay this aspect of Christianity, it may be ugly but it's everpresent. which brings me to my point that the human condition FUCKING SUCKS because we are forced into a life where there is so much uncertainty with so much consequence riding on the line. it bothers me when people don't take into consideration what is really on the line here. people say they just know that their religion is right when in reality they are too afraid to put something as huge as their eternal belief system on the line to make sure they aren't just bullshitting themselves. it keeps me up at night but it's important. also, my question for holygoat: is wicca your choice of belief system because it sounds most suited to your lifestyle, or because you genuinely believe it to be the way to true enlightenment? before i go i would like to apologize for the pessimism and apparent anger put into my first few posts. some days you just feel shitty about the world.

duder, no worries thats why this is here but like i said before whats the point of anything that you said. just a vent? playing dump truck? because otherwise one could come to the conclusion that you enjoy to flex your arguing muscles, which are strong but then again what are we ever supposed to do with things we think we know

it was probably a collection of those. i usually post on the newfound interest in conneticut board but i saw that there was a religion and philosophy board and i felt like like venting my frustrations and getting a discussion going. i do have a genuine desire to communicate my ideas because i believe them to be right and want to make the world a better place through them, but i feel like an ass for the way i presented myself at the beginning. that's not usually what i'm like. i clearly have issues haha i LOVE a good debate and i have gone far too long without one. i'll try to be less of an ass.
