It is my somewhat sad duty to report that Electrocution Distribution is closing up for good. I know that I began to spread the word a couple of weeks ago that Electrocution Distribution would be re-opening soon, but I have since rethought the whole thing and have decided that it is not for the best.
At the moment my life is very unstable, in a geographical sense. I have just come back from a pretty big overseas trip and, well, now I have the bug! I’m hoping to have my backpack on again by around the middle of next year and once I leave, I may not come back for about eighteen months! Therefore, I don’t think that it is fair to anyone (my suppliers, my customers and to myself) to start this thing up again, if I’m just going to have to pack up once more in a year’s time. It’s a lot of work and also, Electrocution Distribution is becoming somewhat of a taxation nightmare (thanks to Australian GST), so it’s just not viable to run on a short-term basis.
Also, in a more immediate sense, I don’t really have the room to run Electrocution Distribution in any more. Electrocution Distribution was taking up a whole room and spilling out further before I left Australia last time and I’m afraid that that is a luxury that I can simply no longer afford in my far smaller confines here and now.
I hope that everybody understands.
Having said that though, I’ve come up with a fantastic solution: “Electrocution Zine Solutions”! Electrocution Zine Solutions will be an online resource guide for zinesters and zine enthusiasts alike. In some respects it will serve almost the same purpose that Electrocution Distribution has been serving all of these years, but it will cut out the middle-man (me)! Electrocution Zine Solutions will include a full catalogue of zines from around the world and will list full ordering details, similar to those which have appeared on the Electrocution Distribution catalogue, but with the addition of postal, email and URL contacts. That way customers can order directly off you and hopefully engage in more personal, fun contact. As well the website will include other resources and online articles and columns plus message boards and a news board.
Please be assured that anyone who has sent items for consideration to Electrocution Distribution will be contacted regarding Electrocution Zine Solutions and hopefully included in this new project. If you have sent anything to me for consideration recently, I will be contacting you soon.
I’m in the very beginning stages of putting Electrocution Zine Solutions together but once there is more to tell I will let everyone know ASAP!
If you have any queries about anything relating to Electrocution Distribution at all, please get in touch ASAP. Electrocution Distribution will be officially closed on June 30, 2003. If you have any business related queries about Electrocution Distribution you need to get in touch to discuss them before this date.
Thank you to everybody for their support. My customers and my suppliers alike have been an absolute joy to work with and without you, I could never have done this. I wish you luck with all of your zine endeavors in the future and I look forward to working with you again!
Stay tuned for updates on Electrocution Zine Solutions!
Love,
Riva
