theunobserved.com/music/untitled1/"Five years ago, Jad Abumrad, creator, host and producer of the internationally recognized radio program Radio Lab, composed Untitled. He had bought a cheap, shortwave radio and walked around his apartment in Brooklyn late one restless night, recording all the strange garbled fuzz between channels, where occasionally a Chinese or Russian or Arabic word would pop out. It all sounded very ghostly and reminded him of what he'd read about the early history of radio, how early radio listeners believed that radio signals commingled with the spirits of the dead in the ether. So he took a lot of these shortwave recordings and processed them into little spirits of his own. Untitled was composed for an experimental puppet show and has since been used in several short films."

Im new here, but im gonna give this threat a go with all my current knowledge of the modern avantgarde scene.
(this is all old shit, i live in Denmark and im one of... 5million people that actually likes anything besides lady gaga and football (not the real kind, but soccer!))
Diamanda Galas Spiritualized Spacemen 3 cLOUDDEAD LSD and the search for god (more shoegazing, but still pretty good) ofc. Michael Gira and Swans Sort Sol (Danish post-mod-"punk" band that had its peak in the late 80's) Alcian Blue (yet more shoegazing) My Bloody Valentine (See above ^^) The Contortions Teenage Jesus and the Jerks Mars D.N.A (Last four are from the album "No New York" an Eno production from the No Wave movement/or whatever you would call it)
Gonna stop here since im sure it will barely be read by anyone when the threat is this long.
EDIT: Sorry for reposting some names, i myself didnt take the time to ready all of the posts, im just picking names out that i dont know and listen to them. And thank you for those.

welcome to the board - and you list some great stuff there (and yes, that No New York album was incredible - i was so sad to miss Teenage Jesus's reunion show last year, but it was the same night as Fever Ray)
some more suggestions based on that stuff: Virgin Prunes (the singles are ok, but the albums themselves are fascinating) The Fall (if you have lots of time) Fever Ray (already mentioned, but seriously that album is amazing) Einsturzende Neubauten
and pretty much any early 80s "post-punk"/"death rock"/"goth"/"industrial" stuff

Fever Ray is the Knife girls solo project right? I had intented to go see her for my birthday last year but my GF persuaded me to go to a "Ya-confetti" concert instead, which was quite horrible! But i did get to know a new dj that made some fantastic electronica over the last year, Kasper Bjørke... If you like Fever Ray/The Knife i can recommend that you listen to Trentemøller/Trentemoller/Trentemoeller (not sure what they call him in the US) despite his frequent visits to places like Ibiza and Sunny Beach his studio albums offers something very special and rare for the electronica genre, true depth. heres a link to his myspace www.myspace.com/trentemoellerDont really know any of the other names you listed, but i will check them out tonight. (gotta love youtube when youre poor) Thank you for the suggestions

yeah, Fever Ray is one half of the Knife, but it's different - you can still tell it's the same people, but it's like they took out most of the techno and made it spookier
and the live show was phenomenal - it's too bad you missed it (especially since she has announced that Fever Ray is over for now :-( )

That sucks. thought i had forever to catch one of her shows On the brighter side of things... this monday im going to my first Xiu Xiu concert in Copenhagen! Im super exited about it, just a shame i have to go alone *insert sad face* cause i dont know anyone that even remotely likes XX/former ghosts or zola. Im just gonna have to dance cheek to cheek with myself and see how many beers i can pour in before the flight back home. Btw i found a nice tune on the Owen Pallett board from Les Mouches, gotta see if i have any money left over from buying excessive amounts of merchandise at the concert. Heres a link for the only song ive been able to find online by them www.thebluehouse.org/details.php?id=606Also really enjoyed the Virgin Prunes that you spoke of in your last post, reminds me alot of Cinema Strange or the Deadfly Ensemble.

By the way, do you know if XX did any collaborations with Michael Gira, other than Under Pressure from Women as Lovers? I rather enjoyed that, made me happy
