okay, okay. good point.
"I felt so elated and free that a fountain of love came pouring out of my throat. it was beautifull to laugh at such honesty."
...i suppose one's reaction depends on how theyre looking at the whole thing at the time. i happen to be a terrible cynic that i saw it as an attack. truthfully, i wish i'd been able to look at it differently. anyhow, sorry for bitching about it. not your fault. ;]

I just wanted to make sure no one mistakes Xiu Xiu's muse as the same muse that drives Bright Eyes (which is ego? well, im not a fan). Maybe it is a lack of ego in Xiu Xiu that I think enables Jamie to deliver such lines with natural ease. this may be twisted, but i think there is a positive message to Xiu Xiu. like their hero's Joy Division, Xiu Xiu is a warning. The abyss conjured but not the abyss itself. anyway, no need to appologize. i wouldn't want anyone laughing AT a band i liked. and my WITH or better stated, BECAUSE of reaction is, I know, the minority. okay, okay. good point. I saw Jamie perform last night here in Portland. He played primarily with a simple acoustic guitar and a little bit of synth. I liked the show a lot because it was like a group of friends sitting down together and falling under his spell.
One thing that was really cool was passed out a set list that had some songs on them and we would request those in any order or ask for him play a certain songs. I could not remember the name of Over Over, but oh well.
I should have brought more cash. I wanted a shirt but got two cd's, A Promise and Fag Patrol. Great show.

be careful about preaching musical acceptance and then bashing another band at the same time. listen to some more bright eyes, and you'll see that though he sings about himself constantly, it's not just ego (there's a lot lot lot of self depracation there).. i'm not saying "you have to like them or you're not a person rarrrrrr!" i'm just saying, just like any band, you can't get the whole picture just from certain songs and lyric excerpts.
one of his newest songs that he played last night actually has a lyric that immediately reminded me of my feelings on why i love xiu xiu so much.
"and when i press the keys, it all gets reversed, the sound of loneliness, makes me happier." -bright eyes 'poison oak'
listen to that radio interview with jamie, he just wants people to react, and not to know how they should be reacting. there's nothing wrong with laughing.
