I'm just trying to get a feel for how people are going to be voting this time around.
We, as British Columbians, need to ask ourselves one question: "Are we better off now than we were 4 years ago?" I think that most will find that the answer is no.

I think it's five years, actually. Provincial elections are weird that way.
Certainly we're not better off. Many of the things we take for granted and basic foundations of our society and well being have crumbled a bit and been undermined during this time period. Some things have improved in some aspects, but I think the cost has outweighed the benefeit. I think careful planning for most of it is the solution, anyway.
As this is my first chance to vote, I'm planning on weighing out my options and figuring it out in the next little while. I'm not sure who it's going to be, at this point.

just to clarify about how often election take place: it used to be the same as the federal system, where the government could call an election any time it wanted, but the BC Liberals changed it so it would be every 5 years.
i think this will have to change if (hopefully) the single transferable vote system is adopted, because there is a greater chance of minority governments, which are often short lived.
i initially responded to this poll by saying that i'd be voting for the green party, but the guy who's running is norm seifken, chilliwacks marijuana party guy. he's fucked. so i'm now voting ndp. i've actually been fairly impressed with carol james so far, but i think the liberals will still win the election.
