It's no suprise. As I said before it happens in just about every religion I know of.
I just hate seeing it happen. Once it has happened, there's little chance the 'victim' will believe anything we try to tell them about the lifelong brainwashing. So I guess my ramblings have little use for anybody but myself.

You can't avoid "brainwashing" your children to a certain degree. Every time a parent says "I love you" they are brainwashing their children. Now, when that pastor makes reference to purposeful brainwashing. That's just wrong.

yeah, that's true. we all teach our children our own values (mostly involuntarily) and teaching your child religious traditions is just an extension of that. i think it's okay to raise your children in any belief system so long as fear/hatred is not a by-product as they grow older. that is really where i think i have come to terms with in regards to religion. if what is taught causes one to fear what is unknown and dwell in fear before wanting to understand it, that personal belief should be discouraged.
