Sure was random...And I agreed with it until the "don't vote" jazz. Mind if I ask why not? just curious.

Oh, and chris, I don't think that wanting more freedom is greedy...Wether its here or in iraq or in the states or in russia. Some people just love this country enough to want to make it a better place...I guess I'm patriotic in that sense. So are you.

Why I vote for the Marijauna Party and feel bad about it:
Voting in a representative democracy is a waste of time, a lame fuck around. It gives you a false sense of participation in government. Government MLA's or MP's rarely vote outside of their parties dictate so they end up representing the party to their constituents rather than their electorate to the government.
And it doesn't really matter who is elected, so much of our lives is controlled through economics and mass media. Transnational Mega-Corporations are not accountable to anything but profit and have more say in government than you or I ever will.
It's fun to kick out the government every 4 or 5 years, but you can bet your bottom dollar the next round of old white guys are going to be a new pile of the same shit.
Acting directly will get you much more than putting an X on a peice of paper ever will.

If you don't think voting accomplishes anything, why vote at all? But more importantly, why vote for the marijuana party?! They have the most pathetic excuse for a platform ever. Read the green party platform, you might enjoy it. Or start your own party, but don't just bitch about it and do nothing. You'll have to work from within the system to change it.

Exactly. Not voting doesn't accomplish a damn thing. The only way it would work is if we ALL jumped at the same time...But THEN what would happen? I know one thing...Empty rhetoric doesn't accomplish a thing.

I think singing about how to maintain a new social or governmental system is a great idea. It could go like this:
Restructure the parliament Eliminate the senate! (senate!) They are taking away money (our money!) From better social programs
Stand up and vote (vote!) Over a period of time, we may be able to change!
Catchy, huh?

the only time i have ever voted was for a civic election. it's the only one that i felt if i voted it might actually mean something. and in vancouver there is a dance party party, (thats who i voted for) and they stand for everything that other candidates stand for except they want the bars open later and to make vancouver more fun. and now the bars are open later....coincidence? maybe my vote did make a difference.

I agree that making this country a better place is a good idea. I was just trying to make the point of 'better in who's eyes and at who's expense?'

my random thoughts on revolution: Revolution is a human right. Destruction is also an act of creation. Countries aren't real. The only place that makes money is the mint. Capitalism is a snake eating its own tail. The police are occupying your city through force. Property is Theft. Your home is a factory, your TV and computer are the machinery and you are the product. None are more helplessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free. THX-1138/1984/Soylent Green. Fire your boss. The axe must be laid at the root of the tree. Don't vote. Cult of Effeciency. I agree with the first six points.

(senate!) They are taking away lives (and money!) For private profit programs Don't bother to vote (you swine!) We don't have the time, change what you can change today!

sure eat the ballot, why didn't i think of that? i don't want to make it seem like your heart's not in the right place, because i think we all agree that change is needed.
i'm not sure what your plan for change is though. are you going to hold a gun to people's head and say "dammit, we're going to participate fully in our democracy!"?
the website has some good (and some ridiculous) suggestions, most of which are present in the green party platform (i'm a member and am starting a local constituency in my hometown), and yet, I could find no evidence of any actual action being taken by this group of people (aside from their plan to eat their ballots on election day). Rhetoric. They don't engage people to actually take part in making a better society.

Yeah, i know i'm full of shit, but i like argue/discuss these things:
Big Business will never support the Green Party as such the Green Party will never be able to form a government. If any Green Party policy is viable within the cluster-fuck-beaurocracy-of-death-circus, it will be co-opted by an actual government.
My plan for change is persistant subversion leading to stateless socialism, or that gun idea doesn't sound too bad. As of now, there's guys in uniforms carrying guns around who's job it is to make sure you DON'T participate fully in our "democracy".
Voting for change is like drinking CoorsLight to get drunk, you will become very frustrated and switch to Colt .45 to get things done.
Is violence neccessary, effective or acceptable in a revolution?
