I don't drink, fuck around, but I wouldn't consider myself straight edge. I still don't understand why a lifestyle should be labeled. I also think that a straightedge asshole is the same as a drunken asshole. No matter which way you slice it, shit is shit. But, I have lots of friends that consider themselves straigt edge, just like I have lots of friends that are drunk every time I see them. We all get along, share the same friends, and do not try to force our lifestyles upon each other or anyone else. Sure, I have been known to smoke a little grass once in a very long while, but I think that there is a time and place for everyhing. For example, I would never smoke pot in order to enhance my creativity, because I believe a person should be pure when bringing themselves outward. I would never smoke pot unless I asked those around me if they would mind. I would never smoke pot if I knew that someone other than myself would be responsible for my actions (for example, at a show) Like I said, it is only on a rare occasion that I smoke pot, and when I do, I never smoked myself stupid. What this is leading to is that I believe that each person should pick the things out of all religions (including satanism and straight edge) that they consider useful in their lives. I just think that life is too short to worry about wether you are doing the right things to be considered a satanist or straightedge or christian or catholic or muslim... In order to do this you must stand up against years of tradition. A difficult task, I know, but mandatory in rearanging society's puzzle(unless you are satisfied with the way the puzzle presently fits). So, do satanists believe in peace? Hopefully the answer will depend from person to person, because when there is a list of rules in any organized "religion", whenever people are told what to believe, you got yourself a time bomb waiting to explode... Or implode. Thats all I have to say on the subject. The only thing I believe in is communication and sharing of ideas. With that comes the rest.

Straight-Edge is about abstaining but it depends I guess on how you look at it. I have absolutely no desire to do drugs or fuck around or drink... so I don't feel as though I'm giving up or anything or holding myself back from doing anything. I'm totally indulging in the exact lifestyle that pleases me the most. Abstaining from drugs, but indulging in life. That sounds really lame but I'm not sure how else to explain it.

i never knew that being sXe tied into sexual abstainment as well as from drugs and alcohol, but i suppose it works. And even if a sXe asshole is as bad as a drunk asshole, they still push their beliefs on people less then say a.... drunk or sXe xian. Besides, there's obvious bias towards satanists on this board, due to the xian leaning of most of these kids. Less ignorant whining, more random rants and intelligent discussion.

Discussion is great. Pushing your beliefs on people is for fucks. I hate fucks. Did I mention most of my friends are drunks and potheads? It seems as though the straight-edgers that I know around here are fucks that look down on the drinkers. Fucks.

I also hate fucks. Fucks are fucked. And yes, discussion is great. In fact, I think it is the greatest thing in the world. Imagine a world without discussion. It would be fucked. With that said, I'm gonna hit the sack. Your sack!

typically i don't 'fuck around' either, but if adi made me an offer...... hoo boy!
in seriousness, i can see why somebody would abstain from promiscuous sex, but not why it's associated with straightedge. purity? disease free? anybody know?

Actually I'm not entirely sure why sex is a part of straight-edge. It could be for purity, it could be for staying disease free too. The reasons I don't do drugs or drink don't really have anything to do with the reasons I wouldn't fuck around (given that I had the opportunity - as if). That they are both a part of straight-edge for me is just.... convenient.

Sex is a part of straight edge because ian mckaye screamed "i dont fuck" in the wonderful song entitled "straightedge".i don't get it. Tyler, I don't know why anybody would want to say yes to an adi fuck, since I'm pretty fuckin' ugly and all (even for a member of freedom to oppress). Seriously though...Yeah. Oh, and I lied. I DO fuck around. Its entertaining and fun for the whole familia. Good times. I actually don't. Girls are afraid of this machine that goes by the name Adi. Badminton!

boy is my face red. i'm actually not a big fan, but my respect for the band is through the roof. I have the complete discography, but I prefer the bad brains when it comes to d.c. hardcore pioneers. i apologize for the mistake. i'm a moron that doesn't deserve to live. actually, i don't give a rat's ass.

I saw a live video of them somewhere, and even though it was on a screen, i felt like the room I was sitting in was about to fucking explode. I also have a minor threat video, and I've never seen so many people on stage before in my life. you can't see ian. and the whole place sings along. But, when it comes to intensity, no band can compare to the almighty black flag. my opinion. unlike most people, i'm a fan of their later stuff, with henry rollins. like him or hate him, the man is an intense frontman... and a horrible actor. anyways, we were talking about satanism?

Depression is the definitive album... but I gotta say I think I liked Keith Morris better. Henry was great for the earlier stuff he did with Black Flag. I preferred him as Henry Garfield with S.O.A. though.
