Reading people's posts on a message board with "debate" in the title IS asking for opinions. Ghandi, I understand what you're saying though I just do not agree with you. Why bother to call myself a Satanist? Why not make up my own religion? Sure, I could do that. But my personal beliefs coincide with those of Satanism... so why not just call my personal religion what it is: Satanism. And proud of it.

Um... sure. No, actually. My GG Allin obsession is quite separate from my religious beliefs. But... yeah GG rules.

Hey, I'm all for the ideas of religions that you should always try to be a good person, you should treat people the way you would want to be treated, you should try to understand where the other person is coming from before you pass judgement on them. If the world was truly like this it would be awesome. The problem is that it isn't and it will never be. It's just not possible. But the thing that pisses me off about Christianity is that it's just been twisted and molded into a tool to control the masses. It's been around for how ever many years, The church which has been the government in many cultures for years has changed and shaped it to benefit themselves, corruption that has had huge effect on the world has started with the so called most holiest of people. No one can change this it's human-nature. Even today when you think that kind stuff is over how many sex stories do you hear about priests and of those how many more are covered up?
Don't get me wrong, if there really was a Jebius (there very well could of been) I'm all for that rad dude. and I hope to God that God actually exists, seriously I would love to go to heaven after I die, But I don't thinking following a set religion is gonna get you there. If God has half a brain(which I hope our savior and the only all-knowing, all-seeing being has) He would be able to destinguish between people following blindly what they're told to do, or people who have put a thought into their life, look at their life experiences and see what these people are all about. I don't think a God that is great enough to create this absolute wonder that is the universe and life is gonna send you to heaven because you tithed to the Church every week and prayed for people that you neccesarly don't care about. (Dear god, I hope you have mercy on the gay's that are living in sin, I know they're doing wrong. But please have mercy.)

i think there is something about that in there somewhere but like many words in the bible it leaves it up to the interpreter, but ya might want to check up on that.

ok.. sometimes i think god exsists and sometimes i dont.. but you have to admit the commandments are something really good and helpful for anybodys life.. and i belive everyone is equal, and christians do not see gays as equals..
another: i also think that way back in the day in jeruselem..im sure someone or sombody was the god dude, and then people, us greedy, selfish humans fucked it all up and exploited things and twisted things into a distorted version of what the real fucking deal was. i mean, the bible was passed down and passed down..somewhere along the way human nature got in the way. does that make sense?

i find it very convenient to call myself a Satanist when the JW come knocking, they don't come back very often.
i think it is good to study and learn from all or any religions, the problems arise when an illegitimate authority is maintained through a church hierarchy. The historical examples of how people have been fucked over, sheep-ified and controlled through the guise of religion are so numerous and widespread, i won't even go into it.
