Hello fellow ff fans. This is my first thread I'm a little scared. Here goes...
I was trawling through some old Owen tweets to see if there was any reference to Field Day, which I'm excited about, or Heartland, which I'm desperate about, and I came across these:
--- Ugh, had to unpleasantly Kill A Song today. "It's just no good," I realized. Although I've been carrying it around for months...
...now that the vocals are down on it, it sounds... inessential. Will send the instrumental to @roland_weapon for reprocessing. ---
Anyone have any idea what it might be? I have a feeling it's The Man With No Ankles, not because I agree it's no good, but because I don't think he's played it for a while. This makes me sad, I've just learnt to play it and I think it's incredible, v. Dirty Projectors post-structuralist weird. RIP. Or it might not be.

Hi Ben. Owen doubts. and lies.
Dead becomes undead which is then given life by accessories which in turn becomes redead.
Hope that helps.

I don't lie. The dead song was called "A Watery Day". It was beautiful as an instrumental, but I could never get the vocals to work.

And, Patrick didn't like the lyrics:
A Watery Day
The day I lost my virginity I made a pot of chicken noodle soup. Cracked the eggs into a swirling mess. I ate half and I chucked the rest.
The day the doctor gave me pills I smirked like a kid with chewing gum As if the plague was a college acceptance Or the memory of a brilliant threesome
A letter came in from St. Germain My mother washed away by two weeks of rain. The Singer took away my family But all I felt were his glowin' arms around me
During Easter dinner, the dog died And I failed, I failed, I failed And I couldn't even lift the spade

Is there any chance we'll ever get to hear it? Even just as a beautiful instrumental?

So incredibly depressing.

Oh yes please!!!!! Will you be including it in your sets at all?
I think I rather like the lyrics quite a lot, actually.
|
Now do you think the second movement has too many violins? |

Single: Lewis Takes Action B-Side: A Watery Day
"
Thank you Owen! This has made my week.
But is Lewis Takes Action going to be released on CD as a single? Basically, will there be any way of getting A Watery Day other than on vinyl, or should I invest in a turntable? Anybody know?

So does this mean he does lie?

Do you even need eggs to make Chicken Noodle?
|
Watch out! It seems as though it is about to rush into the darkness where you are sitting and reduce you to a mangled sack of skin, full of crumpled flesh and splintered bones, and destroy this hall and this building, so full of wine, women, music and vice, and transform it into fragments and into dust. But this, too, is merely a train of shadows. |

Not that I know of... I wonder if it's any good that way?

My best bet is that it may only be released as vinyl for physical form, maybe mp3 download also. If worse comes to worse, I'm sure someone can rip A Watery Day to mp3 from vinyl.

This reminds me of "Student cheap-o pad thai" that my housemate makes with ramen and eggs.

Where are these kids now? Are they still even kids? |
