 Musical talent
« Thread Started on Jun 10, 2009, 7:45pm »

So uhh, this make qualify as spam (probably), but I know for a fact that there are some very talented musicians among this forum. I think its a good idea if we all here the music that each of us is making, because yeah.

I know that sarpedon aka jason aka Belvedere has some amazing stuff on his myspace.

I too make music, albeit much crappier than anything else.

So, if you have links to myspaces/purevolums/cbc3radiosites/personalwebsites, plop 'em here!

I would like to say I write good music, but the only things I can compose, I either scrap them before recording them or just compose a little something and never return to it after.

But yeah, if I compose something that's worthwhile, I'll post it here first. Promise.

I know I don't post here often, but I frequently check for updates, as I am completely obsessed with Final Fantasy.

But, anyway, I'm in the Boulder, CO based band, 'the ai project.'

Yea!

I used to feel a little shaky about online self-promotion, but when I think about it, forums like these and social network sites are all a kind of self-solicitation. We're always selling ourselves to the rest of cyberspace, we're spamming our thoughts, ideas, and opinions. As long as it's free of charge, it doesn't seem that much worse to advertise our creative endeavours. I also think there are some talented people on these forums, U of T degree or no!

As long as anyone's interested: I'm an amateur composer and part-time street performer. I have music at
http://radio3.cbc.ca/play/band/amateur.

BlueInk/BlackThink may have mentioned it before, but for convenience' sake, I'll repost the link to his music here. Very ambient and experimental in sound, like Broken Social Scene was before they ingested the entire Toronto indie community.

Since I know he'll never post it himself (unless he already has), Boy of Bark has some pretty nifty tunes. The songs are quite addicting, and the lyrics are intriguing. There's a definite Final Fantasy influence, but it also reminds me of Mice Parade.

I know it's myspace, but what can you do? Can someone link me to Sarpedon aka Jason aka Les Mouches MySpace page guy's music? Also, I know Kiwiball has a few a'capella covers on youtube, well worth investigating.

Your stuff sounds really great, all of you!!!

So, not really a regular poster, but I've been lurking here for a long time. :P Perhaps not quite the same genre or as good as the rest of you, but I'll take my risks in the game of shameless self-promotion.

I have many imaginary bands. Very few of which are realistically worth pursuing.

Anyone want to start a luck-based band? Cointoss?

This is a brilliant thread idea!
so far everything i've heard is incredibly beautiful! And their own unique ways! I LOVE It, love it!!

-(note)-
An Amateur, is their any way you'd be able to make all of your songs available for download?? Your music makes me so sad because of how sad my music compares to your music... :(
..which means i absolutely love it! the style, the melodies, the words, the instrumentation! gahh! you are unbelievably awesome! --hell you All are unbelievably awesome!

i guess for right now what i have to offer is 'bout the same as what Scary-Anthony-chips said. but my goal for this summer break is to record (and i guess write more) with my friend and create a myspace. not much of a goal, but hey.
-so yes, hopefully in a couple of months i (might) have something to show for. that is if i'm not too embarrassed. :)

Dear Sarpedon,
I am SO double-friend-requesting you on MySpace!

Richie,
I'll tell you what; I'll let you download the songs, and in exchange I get to tell my friends that someone in Hawaii listens to my music. And you shouldn't feel sad, You should feel glad! If I can write a half-decent song, I'm pretty sure anyone can.
As per request: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S78MJOSX

If anyone wants any Accordion/Trumpet for their imaginary/real band, I might be able to provide.

This is my bands myspace. We do allot of genre changing, sort of a Mr.Bungle/Capillary Action/Naked City type thing except lately we've been incorporating a lot of math rocky type stuff.

The recordings on our myspace are kinda crappy and none of them have actual titles yet. The chick who mastered them was doing it for a project and they didnt come out the way we wanted, she even accidentally cut out like 15 seconds in the second one and as a result it just jumps from one part to another with a few seconds of silence in between. Our percussionist/xylophonist is also absent on the recordings so some of the transitions sound kinda hollow.

Aslo check out Koro Kidinga (they're the first friend on our page) my bands drummer plays keys and percussion for them, they're amazing.
